Levi Aaron

I cannot get over how in love I am with this
little guy!
The bestest part is he is super duper mellow!
This might all change, but for now I am eating
it up :) Trying to get some sleep around
here. So not sure how often I will be
stopping by to update these next couple of weeks.
Have been thinking about making a few changes
to my blog... something more personal...
and something that is close to my heart.
But for now I must go...
I hear Mr. Levi crying in the background :)

I'm In the Books...

I got the phone call today!
Baby's lungs are mature.
I am scheduled to arrive at
the hospital at
5:30 tomorrow morning.
My c-section will start at
7:30 am...
I'm so nervous.
I can't eat anything past
7:30 tonight,
slight torture!

Friends Helping Friends...

I am SO excited to be writing this post.  You really have no idea...I am almost day before Christmas excited...but not why you think.  Well maybe...if you know me...if you can beleive it...the finished quilt is not the most exciting part to me.

It's the fulfillment of a promise that is making me all giddy with excitement.

You see...a couple of months ago I felt the nudge to do more with my blog than just write and share...I felt like I was being led to use my blog as a catapult for showing God's love...
Honestly, I was like...ok...just what do you mean God?
And I waited...and prayed.  And then things started clicking...I found the quilt pattern over at Film in the Fridge. You can find it HERE.
"YES!" Is what I wanted to scream when I saw it...I knew what I was supposed to do...and how.
And quickly, because I am human and humans both chicken out AND forget easily what God tells them to do...I emailed a small group of women that I trust and love...some who I knew would kindly remind me of what I had shared with them that God told me to do.

Basically, I told them..."God told me to do this...please call me out on it if I don't".
Then I contacted sweet Jody from Fabric Shoppe...and told her what I was on a mission to do...wouldn't you know it...she is a pastors wife and hopes to adopt from Africa one day.  She almost immediately offered to donate ALL of the fabric I would need to make the quilt.

Thinking about it...that is a pretty crazy thing.  That is a LOT of fabric to just send to a stranger who promises to make a quilt to benefit a charity.  I cried in the parking lot after getting her email.
Then a good friend offered to pay for the batting and the shipping.
God is SO good.
God is responsible for all of this coming together.  God loves all people.  God loves Africa...and all those sweet people who are suffering from something that is SO easily helped...
To me...each piece of fabric in this quilt stands for a family or person...or BABY...that together we can help...and this may sound crazy...but if you are one of the many who have told me of plans to adopt from Africa...the net you buy just may save YOUR future baby.  Crazy cool, right?
Malaria kills over 1 MILLION precious people PER YEAR!!!
In fact, there are 10 new cases of malaria every second.

Every 30 seconds, a child in Africa dies from a malaria infection.  A child that is no less precious or loved or held dear by his parents than our own children.
By buying ONE net a family of four can sleep under an insecticide-treated bed net, safe from malaria, for four to five years.
The benefits of bed nets extend even further than protecting those sleeping underneath them. The insecticide woven into each net makes entire communities safer – killing and repelling mosquitoes so that they can’t go on to bite others who may not be protected by a net.
Although $10 for a bed net may not sound like much, the cost makes them out of reach for most people at risk of malaria, many of whom survive on less than $1 a day.

Just think...to us $10 is a couple of latte's...a movie...a shirt...a lunch out...a CD...a couple of magazines...any number of frivolous things that we all throw money at...can I challenge us all to give those up for a day...or a week or a month...and give a net or two or three instead?
Can you help me show God's love to people in Africa?  And wait with me for God to show up in a big way?  Each net you buy is ONE entry into the raffle to win this quilt!
It's a beauty...if I do say so myself...considering that I only started sewing a little over two years ago...I feel so BLESSED that God would use me in this way to do something big.
It is approx 51in by 73in.  It would be cute as a twin coverlet...or on a couch...or hanging on a wall.
And fyi--my home is smoke and pet free. :)
And as a special little touch...to help you remember what this quilt represents...I added this cute little tag. :)

And now for the begging...
PLEASE go buy a net...you can click HERE to go to our page.
If only each daily visitor to this blog bought ONE...we would more than double or triple our goal.  So YES...one net DOES make a difference!

PLEASE feel free to copy this ENTIRE post and repost it on your blog...you will probably have to check the links but feel free to post away....anyway you choose.  I would LOVE nothing more than to go through my reader and see this post over and over and over again!!

We will choose a winner NEXT FRIDAY the 23rd!!  So every net bought by Thursday the 22nd at midnight will count as ONE entry...and I have a totally unbiased judged in mind to do a VIDEO reveal of the winner!!!

AND there will be other prizes as well.  If you would like to donate a prize PLEASE contact me...I already have several offers and I would like to extend the deadline to donate.

You guys are awesome.  And I love you...truly.  I can't wait to hit "publish" post...I feel like all of this before was like heading up to the highest point of a roller coaster and hitting "publish" will push it over the edge...

Now...pretty, pretty, PLEASE...go BUY A NET...and spread the word!!
Re-posting this for Crystal!

I lied...

I said I would post before & after
photos of my newly painted
kitchen cabinets.
Well, today has been a little busy
and on the unusual side!
Today, I had my amniocentesis.
It was scary and involved a big
needle. I don't like needles much.
After the amnio, it sent me into
labor. Since I am not normal,
they had to stop my labor...
for more than one reason I cannot
go into labor nor can I ever deliver
C-section all the way!!!
Wish it weren't so, but I'm also
thankful that because of modern
technology and medicine I am
able to have healthy children.

So with that being said,
I have been laying in bed most of the
watching movies.
Eating ice cream.
chatting with my sister.
She is back in town to help with the
I should know sometime tomorrow
the results of the amnio and
then they will hook me up with a surgery
time... I'm hoping it is Wednesday!
They did another growth scan on him today.
According to their measurements
he is approx. 7 lbs and 6 oz.
My guess is 8 lbs & 4 oz
We'll see :)
Any guesses from you?
Oh and we still don't have a name!
Will try and upload a recent belly
shot tomorrow... night!

I Will NOT Search for This Missing Tooth!

Did I mention that Alaina lost her first tooth?!

and when I say Lost, I really mean lost...
as in she swallowed it.
She was quite upset over the ordeal.
So Aunt Sarah took her to Target
to pick out a gift for the Tooth Fairy.
Ya know, since she didn't have
anything to stick under her pillow.
It was all so cute. She picked out a
candle :)
Since then she lost another tooth.
She was crying because she thought she
swallowed it too.
Only when I came in to check on
her it was stuck to her cheek :)
The tears turned to laughter!

On another note...
have you been checking up on my
It's getting down to the wire
and the things are getting crossed off the list.
As well as added!
I'm doing pretty well, if I do say so myself!

I had my last official doctor's appointment today!
I go back on Monday to have my
amniocentesis. I tried to get out of it today, but
no such luck. It's hospital policy, for their liability :(
I am really not looking forward to this appointment
at all! I had it done when pregnant with Addie,
and it hurts! If all goes well and his lungs are
developed then I will meet my
son in less than a week!
Crazy weird...

Well I better go,
I still need to pack my bags
and order a few things from Etsy!

The Whole Fam Damily

Remember me suggesting that I might
want to paint the cabinets/the trim in our
house? Well we started and I LOVE it.
This past weekend we
sanded, painted, re-painted and
then I got kankles!
It was exhausting.

My mom helping us do a ton of
work in a short amount of time!
Thanks mom!!!

Addie helping us wipe down the dust :)

Alaina wanted to help sand... she was occupied for
a good two hours :)

I wanted to be in a photo too :)
Proof I wasn't just sitting around the
whole weekend. But I did do my fair
share of sitting ;)

My hard working husband! He helped out a lot.
Sanding, painting, keeping kiddos occupied,
running to Home Depot and Lowes more than
once, and making us food!
Thanks everyone for helping.
Our house is still torn apart!
My mom is coming back this coming Sunday
to help with a few last minute details.
But due to my extremely swollen feet,
I am not doing to much anymore.
It hurts to walk. ouch.

I will upload some before and after pics
hopefully next week before baby comes :)

As of tonight only 7 more days!
We are excited...

Finally Picked Fabric for the little guys Room :)

Super cute owls...
The room color is a little paler aqua blue.

I will probably keep finding random fabrics to add for
pillows and things, but these are it!
So glad that the decision is finally

I now have kankles,

Light and Airy

This is the super cute dress
I found to bring home my little man in.
I think he will like it don't you?

I washed it up today and it has
to air dry. I love it!
It's nice because it's not maternity
so I won't feel so frumpy post
delivery. Right?!

If you want one for yourself
Just head on down to your local
I heart Target... in a big way!

Houston... We have a Diaper Bag!

polka dots and paisley... LOVE!

I'm so proud of myself! Look at these pockets! Perfection!

I can't wait to load all his things into this yummy
bag and tote it around! It's going to the hospital with us!
If you want to try this bag yourself you can go

This is my next project!
Recovering and painting this little
stool. The lid flips open! So cute.
Oh and my mom is coming either
Thursday or Friday and she
is going to help me start painting our
trim and a few other things as well!
Here is to hoping we get a lot done.
I will show you before and after
photos, don't worry :)

I Heart Pottery Barn, but...

and this is a BIG but!
I loathe the prices.
I mean for real I would never pay
over $3000 for a hutch!
But I found this beauty and fell in love.
The only problem is...
I'm not a huge fan of the glass in the doors.
Yes it's pretty an all, but seriously.
I will NEVER keep it clean and pretty
to display my everyday dishes.
Cause I don't have china!
So we are having it custom built :)
With no glass and I am going to paint it
some rockin' color that I haven't decided on yet!
I will have it sometime the end of July or August.
I am so excited!!!

So the use for this fab hutch...
It's going in the dining room to house
all art supplies that the kids will use.
It will also hold all homeschooling supplies,
books and important papers.
Another great thing is we will each
get a drawer to keep our stuff in that
we need to access on a daily basis!

Another thing we are getting done is wood
flooring. It is going to be put in our kitchen,
dining room and entry way!
Buh-Bye old, nasty, out-dated linoleum!
Hello beautiful, timeless wood flooring!

We are also having our
awesome custom builders
build us a bench for the girls
to sit at at the table!
This will help with our space issues and having too many
chairs in our dining room! So, so excited. Don't worry I
am going to be taking lots of before and after pics:)

Okay question of the day. And this is a biggy!
Since we are getting new flooring I have been
debating the question...
do I paint my trim egg shell white or leave
it a stained honey oak?
It's a biggy, cause that would mean I/we
would have to sand and paint all of our
trim... and since I am anal (yep, I said the "A" word)
I would have to paint the trim in our entire
house! Plus get new doors for all of our rooms.
So this is a big job.
Not one for the faint of heart!

It's always a Bittersweet Day!

This day always sneaks up on me!
A day I will never ever forget.

She was fine. She was kicking all day &
then my water broke & she was stillborn a
few hours later.

So tiny and precious, a gift from God.
Some days I still wrestle with the question of
why me?
why her?
why do bad things happen to good people?

But then I think about the 23 weeks I got to spend
with her. just me and her!
the few times that her dad got to feel her kick.
the many lives she touched with her birth and death.
I know she forever changed mine!
I am grateful that she graced me with her presence!

I'm thankful
I got to hold her and dress her and name her.
I am thankful for my friends and
my family that don't forget her.

Today I will be a little more emotional
then normal, especially with my hormones
already on a crazy high.
But today I will choose to be thankful for the two girls
God has blessed us with and a son on the way!

Today I will remember Caylin
and we will talk about her
and wonder what she is doing
to celebrate her birthday in Heaven.

Today we will be together as a family!
