Hi folks!
I love me some
sappy green Christmas trees!
The smell, the freshness
that it brings to the living room!
Until today!
We went out speedy quick
after the husband got home from
work. It was overcast and dark,
but we pushed through and
decided that if we didn't do
it today it probably wouldn't
happen until a few more days!
I like to enjoy the tree as long as
possible! So we hiked through the woods
and found the most beautiful
Christmas tree! The husband cut
it down and hauled it back to the
van (about a mile) we were cold
and tired, but excited!
The Grinch was on tonight too!
We got home and placed the tree
oh so carefully into the base of the
tree stand! Oh crap only, the tree is a bit
too tall and scraps the ceiling, leaving
a streak of sap! Nice.
The husband cuts off some of the
topper, REPEAT. Another streak on the ceiling.
Take it down. Cut another few inches off...
REPEAT! Yes folks that is 3 sappy
streaks on our lovely ceiling!
We finally get it in and it is not
touching the ceiling. Of course it still has
to be placed in the peak of our ceiling
since the tree stands 13 feet tall...
I like my trees to make a statement,
can ya tell?
(if you've watched Christmas Vacation...
you'll get a visual)
We stand back from all angles and whoa
She is crooked
like the
Road to Hana
(if you've been to Maui you'll understand)
We decide to take a break and eat dinner!
The whole time I am looking at this tree
analyzing it!
and she is starring right back at me!
We attempt again...
We make a couple of adjustments...
exchange a few words...
and now all I see is a beautiful
evergreen taking up
1/3 of my living room...
I get out the vacuum, and I start
cleaning up the needle infested floor!
It's looking so nice and smells divine!
I fill the base up with over a gallon of water...
vacuuming some more...
noticing the base needs to be filled up
with more water,
only to find after a little more
investigating that ALL of that water
seeped right through the bottom of that
Christmas tree stand all over my lovely carpet
(reason #89679853619007 why I HATE carpet)
Oh man I was HOT!
The husband had to pick up the tree
and take it back outside!
So after all that work our tree is now
sitting in our garage until tomorrow
when we purchase a new Christamas
tree stand! Fun times!!!
It only took about 5 towels and my
little green machine to suck up all that
water :)
I'm tired now and don't have any proof
of all that work we did!
Oh wait yes we do,
3 sappy streaks on my ceiling!
