i Forgot...

These were so fun to make. You have to have patience!  They are my girls finger prints and then I let them draw the arms. I then modge podged the paper onto the glass bubbles and then super-glued a really strong magnet on the back. I also wrote the girls names on the back with the year! All the grandparents, aunts and uncles got a set :) They loved them!!! It really only took about an hour total. The kids loved this activity!!!!
This was my super fun, easy sewing project for Christmas... Tissue cozies. I got the tutorial here. Best part was everyone LOVED them!

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. Tomorrow starts a new year. A new year always seems so fresh to me... new chances... a different perspective...
I often wonder what will this new year hold for our family? So many possibilities all will soon come to be a memory, but for now it's the future! Exciting :)

Come back tomorrow for a fun New Year/celebrating my 100th post GiVEAWAY!!!!

Tree Tour 2008

Crystal of Little Bit Funky started the whole "Tree Tour" idea and I think it is a swell idea too.
So here is our humble tree...
This ornament was a wedding gift. Jeremy thinks it's kind of freaky, but I like it. Notice the little wedding cake right behind the bride:)
This is Addie's "1st" Christmas ornament. It's kind of cheesy I know, but it's the only one I could find...pre-etsy :)
This ornament was for Alaina's first Christmas. It was a gift...just like she was :)
I love sparkle and snowflakes just illuminate sparkle to me.
This little bird was from my mom...again with the sparkle I know!
This tree skirt was one I made. It took me a really long time since I stitched the ribbon on by hand. What was I thinking? FYI it's reversible.
I love this Santa. He is so jolly looking!
I have a ton of these red balls. They came from my Grandma, and she had them for a long time before I got them. Kind of neat!
This one was my first Christmas ornament way back in 1979. It is so sweet and every year when I see it, it just brings back a ton of memories when I use to help my mom decorate the tree.

A birthday wish list come true...

Yes my birthday was last week, but I just got a new computer and if you read the past couple of posts you will know that I switched from a pc to a Mac. I had some difficulties finding my pics. But thanks to a wonderful friend, who I'll leave nameless just so she doesn't get a bazillion Mac questions, I can now find my photos :)
Hand spun and dyed yarn from my favorite yarn spinner Moonrover. Thanks Lacey, Love ya
This gorgeous piece of stained glass from BellaRose Design,  Thanks Mom I love it!
A super fun container with fun clothespins to keep all of my scrap ribbon at bay, from my great friend Kat
and this little gem. Isn't she a beaut? This was a dear gift from my adoring hubby, {he doesn't have a website to link to :)}. Thank you sweetie I love it, but not as much as you!

I did get some more fun stuff that I have to show you, but it's late and I wouldn't get a great pic, so I'll save that for tomorrow!

Difficulties...

I would like to upload my photos for you to see some of the fun new things that I got, but unfortunately I am having a tough time. Yesterday, I officially switched from a PC to a Mac. So needless to say, if you've been in my shoes before you can understand my dilemma. It is very foreign to me. I am loving it though. I'll try and get some photos uploaded soon.

I Just had to tell someone!

You guessed it. That someone is you! Today is my
Birthday
Sorry I have no pictures. Those will come tomorrow. I will show you all the fabulous new stuff I got and let me just tell you, there are some pretty fabulous things in my possession now. Plus, since my birthday does fall just a week before Christmas I usually get the whole here is your Christmas and Birthday wrapped into one. Which is fine, but that means more goodies to come my way. Maybe that is too bold to say, but I love me some gifts!

P.S. I love giving them too :)

Decorating

This is how my mantle looks now! I love how it turned out!!! It has looked the same for about 6 years or so and I was just in one of those ruts...looks cute how it is...so I won't change it! Well every year my very bestest friend in the whole world comes for a crafting/shopping weekend to get us prepared for the holidays! So this year I had been a little lazy in putting up my Christmas decorations, so she helped me and gave me some ideas and this is what we came up with! I was going to take before and after, but I forgot! Sorry.
My favorite bird my mom got me for my birthday one year!

The Nativity scene. I love the willow tree stuff!

This is my entry way. I like this shot because you can see some of the wall and my front door. I had it open to let some light shine in this afternoon!

Here's the Christmas tree. Sorry it's kind of blurry. There wasn't a whole lot of sunshine today! Anyways, it's Norwegian spruce and stands about 8.5' tall! I love it! We didn't put all of our ornaments on it this year. Just kept it simple and mostly put the red balls on with some other ones that are more meaningful!
So after a long day of decorating my living room/dining room was a disaster. Not lying. Anyways, my hubby was off helping friends of ours with a Jars of Clay concert {he got free admission the little booger} I decided to get as much cleaning as I could done, so that he would come home to a nice looking house. I'm picking up, feeling wonderful about the way things are looking and I start vacuuming, needles are every where. I then start to vacuum under the table, {whoever built this house WHY did you put beige carpet in a dining room?} Anyways, it's usually the worst under Addie's chair {no surprise} I make a quick sweep and before I can pull it away fast enough up go a pair of Curious George undies! AHHHH my vacuum is now smoking and the undies are stuck up in there somewhere. Just in case you have never smelled a vacuum that has burned up. It is a horrific smell! So now I am burning a candle :) I'm not sure about your children, but my littlest one is happiest when she has underwear on and that's about it. No matter the time of year!
I'm super excited tomorrow after church I am going to pick up my mom and she is going to be staying with us until Monday afternoon. The girls have a church play tomorrow and Alaina has her school play on Monday. It will be fun! Hopefully I will have a chance to upload some pics of it all!

All I have to say is...

sometimes Computers are dumb!!!
I'm home today and I can't seem to balance my checkbook. I can't take it into the bank because I have a sick kid so therefore I've been spending my past hour trying to sign up for on-line banking. I filled out all my info, triple checked it and hit submit. Tried to sign in and it's saying it can't let me. So I call the lovely 800 # and she is very nice and then tries to inform me that I spelled my last name wrong.
"Hmmm", I say, "I'm pretty sure I didn't spell my last name wrong, but if you say it is spelled wrong then I guess it's spelled wrong."
She continues to tell me that I didn't push a capitol I, {our last name starts with an I} I pushed a lower case L. So she said she would cancel it out and I could try again, "Just make sure you push the capitol I this time."
So, you guessed it, I went through the process again, this time really making sure I pushed the I not the L. Checked it over until my eyes were going cross and then submitted it. and Yep, you guessed it again, I couldn't sign on. So I call them back up again and now I'm talking to a different lady and she isn't as nice. This is how it went down...
"Hi, I can't seem to sign onto my new account, could you please tell me what the issue is?!"
"Sure, please hold while I pull up the screen." Waiting and waiting while she is telling me, "it will only take me a few minutes, it's going slow today."
It goes slow everyday IMO
"Okay" she says, "It looks like you gave us the wrong phone number."
"Hmmm, What phone number do you have?"
So she proceeds to read off a phone number that we have never had, and tells me that the one that I put on the application is the wrong one, which is not it is the right one and the one she has is the wrong one. Frustration is building!!!!
"Okay, then what should I do?"
"Oh and it looks like you spelled your last name wrong."
"No, I didn't spell my last name wrong. It is spelled with an I."
"I know," she says, "but you typed in a lower case L"
"NO, I DIDN'T!!! I know how to spell my last name and I know what an I vs. an L looks like. What do you suggest I do then so I can get online to view my statement?"
"Well, I can cancel it out for you again and you should just use the wrong phone number, since that is in my system and then you should hit the I button instead of the L button."
Oh my gosh I was getting irate!
She wondered if I wanted her to walk me through the application, and I said, "NO." and that was the end of that.
All of that, because I couldn't balance my checkbook :) Well, it's balanced now and I still am not online to view my statements, because they think I can't spell my last name and don't know my phone number!

On the flip side, I've been spending my morning trying my hardest to dwindle those "lovely" piles that seem to just appear before my very eyes. {i loathe them} Anyways, my Lainie is off sick today with a nasty cough, runny nose thing and so I decided to get a lot done in the way of my house. Yes, I love Etsy and creating and all that comes with it, but with me being gone 7 hours a day, everyday, my house gets...how do you say...NEGLECTED!!! On top of the neglecting I am in the process of moving bedrooms around, so let me fill in the blank for you with all those piles around my house...

___________ PILE
  1. laundry
  2. shred
  3. bill
  4. dirty dish
  5. toy
  6. filing
  7. Christmas
  8. purse/backpack/tote
  9. shoe
  10. did I mention laundry?

okay so that should give you an idea at how messy my house is! gee now that I'm writing it down it's a tad bit embarrassing!

Well, now here is my list of things on my to-do list!

  1. Organize all the piles :)
  2. get dressed today :)
  3. start putting lights on our tree
  4. finish painting bedroom ceiling
  5. touch up all holes and paint in the girls new bedroom
  6. vacuum/sweep/mop
  7. continue to move my bedroom furniture from the living room to my room :)

That might be all? I know I won't get it all done today, but hopefully I'll get a handle on it! Wish me luck, cause I'm gonna need it!

Racking up the views!

Yay!!! My Advent Cake made it to the front page. A week too late, but it made it to the front none the less! :)
