Natural Bug Spray

Are you looking for a natural way to keep the pesky bugs away this summer?

My friend Amber made this bug spray up over Memorial day weekend and was so pleased with it!

I never thought I would make my own bug spray before!
Before oils my thought process was...
I hate bugs and bug bites... I also hate the smell of bug spray but hate the bugs more.
I would use the chemical laden bug spray
knowingly that I didn't really want to spray the chemicals on us but felt we had no other choice.
We found an "all natural" bug spray at the store. It stinks AND didn't work.

I now feel good knowing exactly what is in my bug spray
to keep the bugs from "bugging" us (you see what I did there?)!

 Mix together

  • 10 drops of Purification
  • 10 drops of Thieves
  • 10 drops of Peppermint
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 TBSP of witch hazel
Place all the ingredients into a spray bottle (I get mine here) and
voila you've got yourself an all natural bug spray that WORKS!

**If you are using this spray on children under the age of 2 I would omit the Peppermint. Also, avoid spraying it in the eyes**

Why are Essential Oils so Expensive?

Essential oils are expensive. I get that!

At first that is what was holding me back from starting on my oily journey.

I was super impressed with Young Living's Seed to Seal promise!
You can read about it, more in depth, here.

I was already spending money on OTC meds.
We now reach for the oils.

Here is a break down in cost for each oil that comes in the premium starter kit!

When it's broken down for the cost per drop, it doesn't seem so expensive.

We typically only use 1-3 drops per time we use each oil. Depending on what we are using it for.

Are you wondering how many drops are in each bottle?
15ml bottle contains about 250 drops &
5ml bottle contains about 80-90 drops!

I hope this helps explain cost a little better!
If you have more questions you can contact me via email or you can purchase your very own Premium Starter Kit here.

Crochet

This is the start of my granny square blanket. I'm already in love :)

Pattern

This was the day my yarn finally came in the mail. Here is what I use. LOVE it.
I also am stitching this with an H hook.

Here is the first blanket I ever made. It was for my baby! It is so soft and washes up great.
For this blanket I used this yarn.

I can't wait to see this blanket get done! I have been wanting to do this for a long time. I will have to pace myself since my right hand/arm can get painfully sore fast.

Whatever Craft Weekend (October 2013)

Oh my goodness... where do I even begin?!
Last weekend I had the privilege of being at the happiest place in Kansas!

I traveled solo which is always exhilarating and a teeny bit scary.
But I put on my big girl panties and pressed on.
O'Hare International is always the most intimidating for me!

Here are some photos to get a glimpse into the weekend!

I love a good airplane shot. I don't think I will ever tire of seeing the earth from the air!

Exploring the Craft House! What is not to love!
Every room is so dreamy!!!

The first night was filled with yummy food and sewing our ruffled aprons!
It twas a fun night!!!

Saturday started off with coffee on the porch! Plus a cinnamon roll I devoured before I could take a photo of it ;)
Then off to do some thrifting! It was a fun morning/afternoon!

Saturday night was filled with snacking from the snack table, margaritas, more crafting and more bonding with my new friends!

Sunday was a day of photos and saying our "good-byes"
I'm still in a Craft Weekend fog!

Sad that we missed our connecting flights in Chicago due to our Wichita flight being delayed. We sat in that airport for NINE hours! yikes.

And just like that our trip was over!
I had a blast and would go back in a heartbeat!

Insta-Friday Vacation Edition

I haven't done Insta-Friday in awhile.
So let's just cover our vacation in photos mkay?!
Here we are just starting out on our 12 hour drive to North Carolina!

Here is my crazy bunch of kids at our first night in the hotel.
Of course they wanted to drag the tired parents to the pool!

Another day on the road.
Now I'm starting to see mountains.
I will never tired of seeing rocks shoot straight up out of the earth!
NEVER!!!
This year we vacationed in Flat Rock, NC.
We went to a family camp called Joni & Friends.
If you have a family member with a disability
due to an accident for from birth
you MUST attend one
So refreshing!!

Addie enjoying some cotton candy :)

Addie made a friend

What's this? A walk sans kids!

Horseback riding for the kids :)

Here is Alaina with her buddy :)
All week long the kids get buddies to
hang out with and make them feel loved and special!
It rocks!

We made a family pit stop at the Creation Museum.
The kids had a lot of fun!

Colorful bugs :)

Some natural beauty in the gardens, it was so hot this day!

of course I had to throw in a photo of little Elise :)
in this photo she is 11 months old!
